First timers buying a home
Well, spring is coming and along with that sees increased activity in the Real Estate market. Maybe it is even time for you to buy your first home. If it is, contact me and I will be happy to help guide you through the process. Here a few Do’s and Dont's of Buying your First Home
1. Get Pre- Approved
Take the time to go to the bank or mortgage broker to find out exactly what you can spend on your home. It’s silly to fall in love with a home just to find out you can’t afford it.
2. Find a Real Estate Agent
Yes, you can buy a home without a real estate agent but it would be silly not to. Real estate agents can help make sure you are getting the home you want. They will have info on houses coming up on the market and if the homes are priced well. They also have contacts with mortgage brokers, home inspectors, and contractors which could come in handy.
3. Stay mindful of your Budget
There is no sense in maxing yourself our to buy a home. Stay mindful of your budget and purchase a home you can afford. That way you can still enjoy doing things you love and not being house poor.
4. Be Open
It is important to know what you want in a home but being open to the fact that you might not get everything you want is important. Remembering that paint can be changed, wall paper can be removed and carpet can be torn up will help you see the potential in a home. You may also want to consider moving outside your current neighbourhood to be able to afford the home you want.
